Kalau sarapan biasanya makan apa? Classic white loaf sama selai? Yaealah sarapannya basic amat.

Add something to your breakfast, folks. I'm not insisting y'all to change your menu but isn't it nice to have something curry-ish and little bit heaviness for your breakfast? Buat aku sih iya. I don't know about y'all tapi klo sarapan pake roti (bukan) tawar pake saus padang yang udah dibeli malem sebelumya + bacon atau ham. atau mungkin pake rendang. Daym such a breakfast.

Kalau roti tawar + saus rendang masih kurang heavy buat kalian, bisa juga bikin Roti Kari (sejenis roti tawar tapi ada rasa karinya). You're gonna have a heavy yet delightful breakfast. Trust me, this kind of breakfast is worth your night time. Malemnya bikin roti, makannya pas sarapan. Ada rasa kepuasan sendiri buat aku klo makan makanan yang aku bikin from scratch.

Yellow Curry Loaf for anti-basic breakfast! or lunch! or dinner! or snack.


So, here's the recipe

Bahan : 
500 gram tepung terigu
7 gram     ragi instan
1 sdt        garam
350 ml     air hangat
1 sdm      curry powder

Cara buat :
1. Campur tepung, ragi instan, curry powder dan garam.

2. Campur bahan-bahan kering dengan air hangat. Aduk sampai merata lalu uleni hingga kalis. Simpan adonan di wadah yang sudah diolesi minyak selama satu jam/hingga adonan mengembang and doubled in size. Tutup wadah dengan kain.

3. Panaskan oven 200 derajat Celcius.

4. Kempeskan sedikit adonan dengan ditekan di permukaan yang telah diberi tepung (biar gk lengket) lalu taruh di adonan roti (Adonan roti persegi panjang kalau ingin yg berbentuk persegi panjang. Tapi kalau mau bentuk lain juga bisa). Tutup lagi dengan kain dan biarkan mengembang selama 30 menit. 

5. Sebelum dipanggang, taburi tepung di atas roti lalu goreskan bagian atas roti dengan pisau. Lalu, panggang selama 15 menit terus kurangi suhunya jadi 170 derajat Celcius selama 30 menit. Roti yang matang klo diketok bagian bawahnya kedengaran kayak berlubang gitu. Jangan lupa dinginkan roti sebelum dimakan.

Yup, itu caranya bikin Roti Kari. Kalau mau bikin roti tawar biasa, gk usah pake curry powder. Ini roti sebelum dicampur sama sesudah jadi kalis warnanya beda. Klo udah kalis, warnanya kuning-kuning gitu. Mine is not perfect. Your bread might be better than mine.

P.S. ini roti bisa dipanggang terus dibikin sandwich pake isian suwiran rendang, sambel ijo, sayur daun singkong, & kuah rendang. Daym.
Akhir-akhir ini banyak banget yang suka makan makanan enggak biasa. Mungkin banyak orang yang mulai gini karena butuh foto-foto buat social media mereka biar bisa kelihatan gk biasa terus bikin orang mikir

and yeah the black food is very "hitz" lately. Idk why people use the word "hitz". It bothers me. Like. A lot. I don't know why.

Apparently, youngster like new kind of weirdness such as ice cream inside a pot (for plants) black foods (made from oreo or charcoal). So, if you want to start a business or whatsoever please make something new. Don't copy the others. I know the idea of copying some fancy weird-looking food seems perfect. The fact is, kalau kalian mulai copy itu makanan dan yang lain ikut copy juga, makanan itu gk bakal jadi spesial. Kalau makanan yang kalian anggap spesial itu udah gk spesial lagi gk bisa dong bisa jual makanan yang dengan dalih "ini makanan spesial" trus akhirnya gk laku dan bisa terancam bangkrut buat both of the idea-maker and the idea-copier.

Suatu produk bisa dianggap spesial kalau belum ada orang yang lain punya ide yang sama. You gotta stand the F out. Make something weird (and edible) yang bener-bener cuma kamu yg punya ide satu biar bisa stand out. Because WEIRDNESS ATTRACTS MORE. oh and it's not just about food. If you're feeling different and weird, don't change just because you want to be accepted and fit in. Apa gunanya bisa fit in klo kamu bukan kamu? yekali harus jadi fake tiap hari. Isn't it nice to be yourself even though cuma dikit temen yang bisa deket sm you?

The point is do something different or at least klo mau pake ide yg udah ada dijadiin beda jangan sama-sama banget. Kayak Black Martabak di bawah ini.



FYI, itu bisa item bukan karena oreo/charchoal gitu2 tapi karena gosong. Running a food blog isn't easy, y'know. Kadang harus beli bahan banyak2 tapi waktu dibikin eh gosong terus gabisa dimakan. If you're about to make a food blog (yang isinya masakan sendiri), imma tell you something.... semangat ye.

You might think it'd be a perfect day if you just there laying in your bed with someone to cuddle then you guys having a pillow talk or just listening to All I Want by Stonefox by yourself 'till you fall asleep.

It must be heavenly. Like chilling in heaven with no hesitation. But it won't be really heavenly if you don't have something to chew. right? Isn't it what heaven all about? Good food, great ambiance, nice people around. Daym my definition of heaven sounds like a coffee shop. But isn't perfect to enjoy your afternoon with a light cake on our right hand, a cup of tea on your left hand, and some water pouring over your roof?

I think a Lemon Cake with a kick of ginger would be perfect in this case.


here's the recipe:

200g unsalted butter, softened
175g caster sugar
1 lemon
3 large eggs, beaten
200g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp of ginger
2 tbsp milk

Steps: 
1.Heat oven to 180C. Mix the butter and sugar together (with a hand mixer) until really pale, light, and fluffy. Grate the zest of a lemon and add it to the mixture. Gradually add the eggs, mixing well between each addition. 

2.Shift together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt then add the ginger. add the milk and juice from a lemon and mix until smooth. Put 'em all into your greased tin. 

3.Bake for 1h-1h15 mins, or until golden brown. As usual, us a fork or something sharp to see whether it's cooked or not. If it cooked, let it cool for 10-15 mins.


well, that's it. yeah. pretty easy. You might found similar recipe out there because this is a basic lemon cake recipe. But worry no more, fellas! chill it in your fridge for several minutes and you're ready to chill with your home-made Gingery Lemon Cake! Believe me. simple slices of this lime cake with a cup of tea is such a nice thing to have at ANY occasions. not just when you're feeling lonely at home. but yeah if you're feeling lonely, you might have to try chillin' with some slices of cake.
Maybe some of you guys are wondering which city to go on this holiday. For me as a food seeker, the best place to travel is the city with mouth-watering foods. Being a food seeker is really fun though 'cause food is the only thing that can give all of your senses a pleasure.

So, talking about the full-of-mouth-watering-foods city, I have few recommendations for you. The first one is Malang (or Surabaya. Their foods are similar). They have "bakwan kawi" and it's freakin' awesome. Bakwan kawi itu bisa nyebar di banyak tempat dan sejauh ini setiap makan bakwan kawi yang asal milih di pinggir jalan pasti rasanya ena' ena' bingbing.

But, there's something better than that. Bakwan kawi yang tersebar & enak semua itu masih kalah dengan kota yang menjual banyak pork. YES. PORK. Di jawa (atau terutama Jogja), orang yang jual pork cuma dikit. Karena yang jual pork di jogja cuma dikit, kebanyakan pork eater hafal banget sama lokasi-lokasinya. Yeah, yang jual pork cuma dikit sih makanya hafal semua. Tapi di Medan beda banget! Kalau menurut bahasa orang Jogja, yang jual pork di sini itu "ting telecek". Nyebar banget like everywhere. Of course it's not healthy & gk semua tempat makan bisa masak pork yang enak banget. But it's pork, dude. Pork. Tetep enak lah babi dimasak apapun juga.

Selain Medan juga masakan babi bali juga enak, tapi berhubung saya masih di Medan post-post berikutnya akan berkaitan dengan makanan Medan juga. Doakan saya selamat di Medan ya, guys. Semoga makanan Medan gk bikin masuk rumah sakit waktu balik ke Jogja.

Maybe you guys are wondering is this food blog is all about recipes made by a cool stud? The answer is no. Imma tell you a lot more than recipes 'cause this blog name inspired by the idiom "Chew the fat" you can google that idiom later.I also gonna tell you about good food. Terutama waktu gw travelling ke kota yang jauh dari jogja. In this case, Surabaya.

The first day my family and I came to Surabaya, we have no idea where we're gonna eat. Untungnya satu keluarga suka banget yang namanya street food (yang tersebar di banyak tempat) dan kami gk kesulitan cari makanan yang murah tapi enak soalnya gk ada yang pernah rewel pengen makan di fancy restaurant. Ya bukannya gk pernah sih, cuman satu keluarga mikirnya fancy restaurant kurang bisa mempresentasikan makanan yang benar-benar asli daerah itu. Kebanyakan fancy restaurant remake resep asli or they don't have any idea how to cook the real traditional food karena pemilik traditional recipe itu sendiri biasanya emak-emak yang buka tempat makan kecil-kecilan tapi larisnya sampe melebihi antrian film harry potter waktu awal-awal diputer di jogja.

Tapi, karena kami blm sempat cari informasi dari warga setempat tempat street food yang enak banget jadinya asal milih deh pas perjalanan dr bandara ke rumah pakdhe. We found a place called Bebek Goreng Harrisa. Kata mama, ada dua tempat sekitar tropodo (sekitar rumah pakdhe yg deket bandara) yang jual bebek goreng enak (katanya sih gitu). Namanya adalah bebek teroris dan Bebek Goreng Harrisa, Eh, kebetulan lewat yg bebek goreng harrisa waktu itu jadi kami masuk aja. It was about 8 A.M. and we know they sell spicy food but we don't care. We eat spicy food almost everytime. Gk peduli mau buat sarapan/midnight-"snack" (yup, kadang2 kami keluar malem2 cari makanan padahal udh makan malem).

Nah, waktu masuk ke dalem gw liat sejenis rak yang biasa dibuat pamerin trophies, medals, atau penghargaan semacam itu, tapi diisi sama botol-botol olive oil. Alright, that's a little bit weird but IDGAF trus kami minta menu, milih-milih makanan, blablabla, get the shits done, and the food arrived.

I ordered they special menu which is Bebek Goreng Putri Madura. Bebek goreng with some green topping. Toppingnya isinya ada cabe rawit, cabe yg gedhe-gedhe gitu, sayuran muda, teri, tomat hijau, kacang tanah, dll. Toppingnya ditumis gitu tapi waktu disajikan masih ada banyak minyaknya. It is kinda greasy but it is delicious. But still, minyaknya kayak makan gorengan langsung dari wajan. No wonder why they're hiring a fat kid as a model for their special menu poster. Biasanya kan model-model yang dipake tempat makan ayam goreng itu kan gambar cewek or a little girl. Tapi beda sama tempat makan satu ini. Fat kid as a model for a restaurant? they might be the only restaurant with this idea.


Alright, back to the bebek goreng. Walaupun bebek gorengnya masih greasy gitu, bebek satu ini masih bisa dinikmati. Gk ada rasa eneg (aku gk isa translate ning Bahasa Indonesia e) yang biasa dirasakan waktu makan gembus goreng langsung dari wajan. Nah, ada yang beda dari makanan satu ini. Mereka gk pake minyak goreng biasa. Untuk menumis toppingnya, mereka pake minyak samin & olive oil. Tau kan minyak samin yang biasa dibuat masak sop kaki kambing itu? Nah itulah yang bikin menu ini spesial.

Ada juga menu yang masuk kategori snack-yang-bisa-dijadiin-lauk-juga. Dari tulisannya di menu sih gw pikir bentuknya bakalan bakwan (klo di jogja bakwan dibuat dari tepung sama air dll) sama sambel. Tapi, ternyata bakwan yang dimaksud di menu itu bukan bakwan yang biasanya ada di abang-abang gorengan itu. Bakwan di sini maksudnya sejenis bakso goreng. Bakso goreng + sambal pedes = kenikmatan yang hakiki! That's why you should order this menu.

Selain menu-menu di atas, ada satu lagi menu yang layak buat dateng jauh-jauh ke surabaya buat nyoba menu ini. Namanya Bebek Goreng Sambal Mangga Muda. It's unique. Makan buah dicampur sambal. It is a little bit spicy and it has a kick of acidity from the mango.

Tempat yang jual makanan sekitar 20 ribuan ini punya wifi yang kenceng bingbing sampe susah buat ninggalin tempat ini. So, if you're at Surabaya (especially when you're near the airport) datanglah ke tempat ini ngicipi bebeknya. Imma post more street food i found at Surabaya later! I like to roast and bake recently 'cause my fvckin' oven is back!
Abis dibenerin trus disimpen di gudang for a loooooong time tapi ternyata bisa dipake lagi i like to roast things just because fried things isn't  really healthy. Ya setidaknya bisa ngurangi gorengan lah walaupun cm dikit-dikit.
Berhubung udh coba-coba pake oven, skrg ini mau share caranya bikin chicken gordon bleu tp ala-ala yg lebih sehat & tasty gitu. This recipe inspired by a cooking show called urban cook. But as always, i'm doing it with a twist. Instead of roasting a chicken breast doang, di resep ini ditambahin keju & smoked beef kyk di chicken gordon bleu.
So here's the recipe
Bahan :
Dada ayam
Butter
Dried thyme
Dried dill
Keju lembaran
Smoked beef
Bawang putih
Cara buat :
Belah dada ayam (tp jangan sampe misah)
Beri garam & merica secukupnya trus dielus dada ayamnya
Taruh keju & smoked beef di tengah2 dada
Olesi dgn butter
Selipkan 6 biji bawang putih di bawah dada
Taburi dried thyme & dried dill trus ratakan sampe semua permukaan (termasuk permukaan di dalem dada)
Masak di oven 40 menit & 220 derajat celsius
Biarkan ayam beristirahat setelah matang (jgn buru-buru dipotong/dimakan dulu)
Tuang sausnya ke ayam
Cara bikin saus :
Bawang putih yg udah dipanggang bareng sm ayamnya dicampur dgn sedikit air panas, trus dituang ke ayamnya.
Bisa disajikan sm kentang goreng/mashed potato sama minuman yg seger-seger gitu.

I know it’s toooooo late but It’s better than not doing it at all.

By the way, hari valentine kemarin ngasih apa ke pacar? Bunga? Cokelat yang dibeli di supermarket? Mungkin hal-hal itu bisa membuat pasanganmu pikir kamu romantis. BUT, remember this thing from a romantic guru like me. Most of girls think a boyfriend who can cook is the sexiest man in da entayer world. TRUST ME. I remember some of girls in my class said “wah cowok bisa masak tu sexy ya.” “eh iya bener banget, kayak chef Arnold itu lho udah ganteng, bisa masak lagi… ah jadi pengen deh punya cowok bisa masak” or “what? Dia pacaran sama Si A? eeuwh mending sama Yosu daripada dia. At least Yosu bisa masak”. But the fact is, saya masih jomblo aja sampe sekarang T.T
So, I don’t care is it valentine’s day or not. Kalo kamu mau dianggep sexy sama pacar, cook something! Since girls love chocolate, then cook a chocolate for her. Biar gk mainstream, tambah aja cabe dicokelatnya (ini serius). Tambahin cabe ke cokelat bikin rasa cokelatnya jadi lebih eksotik gimanaaa gitu. Tapi jangan masukin biji cabenya & pake cabe keriting biar si doi gk kepedesan dan akhirnya bukannya tambah sayang malah putus di tempat. 

Masak Chocolate tu gak susah-susah banget kok. Walaupun kadang butuh latihan emang, gk bisa langsung jadi Master of Chocolatier jugak elah. Buktinya saya coba bikin resep yg ini walaupun harusnya gampang tetep aja fail.

Berhubung stok chocolate chips udah menipis dan males banget keluar rumah, yaudah deh ini resep gk bisa sesuai sama yg diharapkan. But I’m  sure you guys can do it better than me. Soalnya ini resep buat sendiri tapi gk sempet bereksperimen & menentukan jumlah bahan-bahannya. So, I’m gonna share the ingredients but I can’t tell you the amount of the ingredients. Jadi kalian bisa latihan sendiri (mandiri dong… kan udah gedhe, udah punya pacar kan?)

Bahan :
Chocolate Chips
Cabe keriting warna merah yang dicincang kecil-kecil & dibuang bijinya
Full cream milk
Cornflakes
Susu bubuk rasa vanilla caramel (optional)

Cara buatnya :
  • Lelehkan chocolate chips. Caranya bisa dilihat disini http://www.diahdidi.com/2014/02/cara-melelehkan-coklat-blok-dengan-benar.html
  • Tambah susu full cream tapi gk usah banyak2. pokoknya jgn sampe cair banget.
  • Masukkin cabe ke campuran cokelat
  • Klo quantitas cokelat sudah memadai buat melapisi semua badan cornflakes, campur cornflakesnya ke coklat
  • Aduk rata sampe semua badan cornflakes ketutup
  • Masukin ke wadah (terserah wadah apa aja, yang penting pas mau ngasih ke pacar jangan pake cobek bekas sambel bawang aja)
  • Masukkin ke lemari es sampe cokelatnya mengeras
  • Taburi susu Hilo rasa vanilla caramel (optional)
  • Taburi sisa cabe buat garnish

 That’s it. Give it to your girlfriend and you’ll become the most sexiest guy in the world.



P.S. biar kedengeran gaul, pas ditanya pacar namanya apa bilang aja Spicy Chocolate Covered Cornflakes with Powdered Vanilla Caramel Topping. Nama makanan yang di bahasa inggriskan biasanya lebih enak didengar. Padahal klo ditranslate bahasa indonesia jadi Cornflakes campur cokelat pedes ditaburi susu hilo.
GUE.SUKA.KENTANG.GORENG.

Serius suka aja sama kentang goreng dari yang ada bumbunya sampe yg cuma digoreng gk pake bumbu apa-apa. Kalau ada kentang goreng di meja makan, I'm pretty sure it will be gone soon. 

Cara makan kentang goreng biasanya juga beda-beda. Kalau di restoran fastfood, kentang gorengnya dicolekin ke es krim (asli ini enak banget), klo di tempat makan biasa pake sambel A*C, dll tergantung tempat makannya. Kalau di restoran padang jual kentang goreng ya pake bumbu rendang (aargh i wish they have french fries with saus padang). Tapi klo di rumah? ya adanya sambel biasa / saus tomat biasa ya mau gimana lagi -__-

But, someone bought a cholula sauce last year dan belum habis sampe sekarang. Instead of the regular ketchup, i made a recipe with this cholula sauce. Klo kamu belum tau apa itu cholula sauce, you can open this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholula_Hot_Sauce 

Klo males buka linknya ya aku jelasin aja deh, pokoknya cholula sauce itu saus pedes asal Meksiko. Pokoknya rasanya Mexicany gitu deh, seger pedes gimana gitu. Klo, tertarik mau bikin ini resepnya ;)

Bahan : 
Kentang Goreng
Jeruk Nipis
Cholula Sauce

Cara buat :
  1. Goreng Kentangnya
  2. Campur semua bumbu jadi satu
  3. Tuang bumbunya ke kentang goreng yang udah mateng
  4. Campur kentang goreng & bumbu

So easy, eh? segampang buat kentang goreng bumbu-bumbu yang biasa dijual di pasar malem tapi rasanya lebih classy. Rasa pedes dari saus meksiko + acidity dari jeruk nipis jadi satu sama gurihnya kentang goreng yang crispy. Ah, pokoknya harus coba deh.

P.S. sengaja gk saya cantumkan kuantitas bahan-bahannya soalnya tergantung dari selera kalian masing-masing. Klo suka pedes ya bisa dibanyakin sausnya, klo gk suka jangan dibanyakin jeruk nipisnya (klo kebanyakan kecut banget)



Heran kali aku akhir-akhir ini banyak temen yang ulang tahun. Banyak banget gilak. Hampir tiap minggu 2 orang ulang tahun. Udah kayak jadwal les aja seminggu 2 kali Mungkin orang tua mereka udah janjian kali ya lahirannya gk beda jauh and somehow their child become my friends. Have you ever wonder how many efforts does it take to just thinking about the presents?

Someday one of my fella had a birthday then I saw an empty jar in my kitchen and voila! I'll cook something and put it in a jar. Kebetulan di rumah banyak buah dan itu bisa jadi hadiah. Bisa dikasih kertas ucapa dihias-hias or something. But how about food? Food in a jar seems nice, isn't it?


Sebenernya klo mau masak masakan yang lain juga bisa sih. Gk cuma parfait, Kamu bisa bikin nasi goreng, mac n cheese, atau masakan pasta yang lain trus dimasukin ke toples kosong. Idk about you, but it seems like a good idea to me.

Since i have some fruits, i'll make a fruit parfait then.

Bahan :
1. Pepaya
2. Pisang
3. Crushed Biscuits (bisa pake biskuit yang bisa dibeli di supermarket)
4. 2 sdm Cream Cheese
5. 2 sdm Yoghurt

Caranya :
1. Potong buah-buahannya. Jumlahnya terserah yang kamu mau.
2. Campur 2 sendok makan cream cheese & 2 sendok makan Yoghurt.
3. Hancurkan biskuit (kalau saya pake biskuit good time) sampe jadi kecil-kecil tapi jangan terlalu         halus.
4. Susun parfaitnya (mulai dari pisang, pepaya, campuran cream cheese-yoghurt, dan biskuit. Ulangi       susunannya sampe toplesnya penuh.)
5. Tutup toplesnya terus kasih tulisan ucapan selamat ulang tahun di bagian depan





Buahnya bisa disusun biar lebih cantique!
